Hey friend!

How a call from Facebook changed my life

In September 2017, I got a message on LinkedIn from a Facebook employee. She wanted to invite me to their NYC office.

She said, “Facebook is interested in your story.”

I remember thinking… what story?

At the time, I was just a woman building a footwear brand, a mother, and a military spouse stationed on Long Island, NY. I didn’t feel extraordinary—I was just doing what needed to be done.

But that phone call changed everything.

I went on to join what was then called the Facebook Small Business Council (now The Leaders Network). Since then, I’ve:

✔️ Done press with Facebook (now Meta)

✔️ Visited their HQs multiple times

✔️ Learned directly from the top experts in Meta ads, AI in advertising, and more

✔️ Even shared the stage with Sheryl Sandberg, former COO of Meta

✔️ My confidence did not only increased astronomically, I also launched my digital advertising agency just 3 months since joining their program!

✔️ I went on to make my first $1M USD in under 2 years.

Here’s a photo from that moment—one I’ll never forget. 🥹 I’ve also met amazing people along the way that remain supportive as friends and colleagues.

So, why am I sharing this?

Because for far too long, I neglected one of the most powerful tools in business: storytelling.

Let’s be real—vulnerability isn’t easy.

Especially when you’ve carried trauma, survived tough seasons, or learned how to protect your heart just to survive.

But once I began sharing my story—of being an immigrant, a military spouse (my husband is now retired), going back to work 2 weeks postpartum at 22 because we were broke, and building a life where our daughters could study abroad and travel the world—everything changed.

People started connecting with me on a deeper level.

They asked how I started. Why I started. What drives me.

Because here’s the truth: People buy from people.

And today more than ever, people want to support small businesses.

But they need to know what you stand for, who you are, and why you do what you do.

This is what I call Story-Selling.

So tag me when you post your story—@nadiaceo—I’d love to cheer you on.

I know this might feel uncomfortable at first.

But friend, we’re going to work through that together. Are you in? 🤜🏽
